Which type to cut my grass?
There are a few things to consider when choosing a lawn mower.
Firstly which type of blade. Either a rotary or cylinder.
Generally cylinder mowers give a better cut because the grass is cut between two blades. However cylinder mowers must be set up correctly
to be effective and this takes time and regular checking. Rotary mowers especially with
dulled blades can tend to rip the grass. Also cylinder mowers give those characteristic stripes which many find appealing.
It is possibly to get stripes with a rotary if it has a rear roller fitted.
Possibly the next most important consideration is type of power - petrol, electric or man! Electric mowers tend to be cheaper
to buy but obviously depend on the availability of an electricity supply. For large areas petrol mowers tend to be more practical.
To hover or not to hover that is the question? Or maybe not. But if you choose a rotary mower this is a consideration. With hover
mowers the cut height is generally fixed unless you fit spacers to the blade mounting. With a wheeled rotary you can adjust the height. An
advantage of hover mowers is their manoeuvrability but this only really applies to the small light models, but for uneven surfaces or slopes
hovers are great.
We show a wide variety of mowers ranging in price from about £30 to over £1000.
